Braked Stub Axles - Town & Country Tyres

Designed for agricultural applications. A stub or full axle with a drum brake attached to the hub, the backing plate which supports the brake shoes is welded to the axle. The brakes are operated by a cam lever which is mechanical and can be operated by cable, air or hydraulic cylinder.

Hydraulic ram is most common as this can be operated by the tractor’s hydraulics. Capacities range from 3 tonne / axle to 30 tonne / axle, maximum speed is 60 km/hr, brake drum sizes range from 250 mm x 40 mm to 406 mm x 120 mm. Mechanical arm to operate the brake is also available.
